Fitzsimmons joined the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2015 as an adjunct teacher. Previously, she served as the special assistant lawyer general for the Environment within the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. She spent a few years working as an environmental coverage advocate and lawyer within the Chesapeake Bay and Delmarva Coastal regions. With more than 25 years in apply, her work contains land use, environmental and natural resources protection, local government, laws, regulatory and ethics issues, as well as educating law and policy. Her intensive coverage improvement experience includes chairing the Maryland State Wetlands Steering Committee and serving on the Economic Growth, Resource Protection and Planning Commission. She obtained her JD, with a Certificate in Environmental Law, from the University of Maryland School of Law, and a Master of Administrative Science diploma from Johns Hopkins University.
