Maybe we, like millions of others, just lose motivation. Or maybe we feel selfish taking extra time to invest in ourselves. Flexible work options improve so many areas of our lives. Whether its better health, better relationships, better work-life balance, or many other things, flexible jobs (like those with remote work options, flexible schedules, part-time hours, or freela nce options) come to our rescue. Our annual survey on how flexible work impacts peoples personal lives found that94% thought it would have a positive impact on their personal lives.90% thought a flexible job would help them take better care of themselves.89% believed it would decrease their levels of stress.63% thought it would increase their exercise and fitness frequency.87% said it would create more time to spend with family or friends.2. Its a great time to be searching for a job. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, unemployment has reached a low of 4.1%. Wages are steadily (if slowly) increasing. And when it comes to flexible jobs, were seeing more opportunities than ever before. Telecommuting has grown 115% over the last 10 years. Freelancing is expected to grow to 58% of the U.S. bevlkerung over the next 10 years. Flexible and part-time schedules are increasingly common and popular. Over the last year, flexible job listings on grew 17%. If youve been wary of the job market over the last few years, 2018 looks to be the strongest year for job seekers in a long time. 3. Worried about changing jobs too quickly? Job hopping is no longer frowned upon. Yet another perk of the ever-evolving job market changing jobs frequently, once thought to spell doom to any professional, is no longer a big deal. On changing jobs, Forbes reported that 45% of employees plan to stay with their employer for less than two years, so we ought to get comfortable with the idea.If youve recently started a new job, but are quickly finding out its not the great opportunity you thought it would be, dont let that hold you back from finding something better If youre unsatisfied in a job, its not good for you or your employer to drag things out. Why are so many people unhappy at their current companies?45% of respondents said they rarely or never get the money they deserve.44% believe that they are always or often overlooked. 64% say their supervisors dont give them enough support.Almost two-thirds of those who responded believe that their job is having a significant impact on their mental and behavioral health.63% said that they have always, often or sometimes taken part in unhealthy behaviors such as drinking or crying regularly.5. Changing jobs can grow your salarysignificantly. In a strong job market (like the one were currently in), professionals with great skills and experience stand to earn 8-10% more for every job change they make, also according to Forbes. Some reports (depending on your industry and skill set) say you could make as much as 20% more by changing jobs.How does that compare with the average raise people expect to see by staying in their current job? In 2017, the average salary increase for employees staying with the same company was only 3%. If youre on the fence about changing jobs, this just might push you over.
